Maquis

Côtes de Provence, France.

Available nationwide.

Located on a clay-limestone plateau in the Var midlands at the foot of two massifs (Sainte-Baume and Montagne de la Loube), the source vineyards for this wine are at an altitude of 360 metres and benefit from both moderate temperatures and cool mountain breezes, allowing the fruit the time to reach its full aromatic and flavour potential. The average age of the vines is 15 years, and they were planted at a density of 4000 vines per hectare, giving comparatively restrained yields for the region at 50hl/ha. Farming is 100% organic.

The blend is 60% Grenache, 30% Cinsault and 10% Syrah and each variety is vinified separately. The Syrah is directly pressed whereas the Grenache and Cinsault go through short macerations pre-fermentation. The juice is settled and ferments cool. there's genuine complexity, balance and sheer value in the glass here; this is not your average Provence rosé.
